The most popular question that people ask about the SamGary Band is also the single most difficult to answer. The conversation usually goes something like this: "What kind of music do you play? Well...is it gospel? Um, yes, but not really. Well, is it country? Yes...and no. Well, is it rock? Uh, no...and yes."
The truth is that the music has the edge of modern country with the Southern flavor of the 70's classic rock.
"Yes, but what about this all this Jesus business?"
We resist the urge to label ourselves as a "gospel" band simply because we do not want to be misleading. Please do not misunderstand. We would love to come play at your respective place of worship, but we are not a praise and worship band. We would love to come play at your bar, but we don't know "Free Bird" and we will not refrain from singing songs about the transforming power of the King of Glory.
We are grateful for a God who would come to earth and sit down to eat with folks like us, all so we would "drop our nets" and turn from our sin to love, follow, and be changed by Him. This is why we sing.
We believe in the power of God through the risen Savior to mold and shape lives. If He can do it for a nefarious bunch of ragtag musicians like us... believe us... He can do it for you. We look forward to seeing you soon.
